~ The Annex Cafe Webring ~

~ How to remove your sites and delete membership in the old Webring ~

This guide is for Members of the WebRing at:
[
http://b.webring.com/t/Annexcafe ]
which I will refer to as the "old" WebRing.
It will show how to remove your website(s) from the old Webring and delete your account there.
It contains screenshots taken from my account at the old WebRing.

As you might know, we are moving to a new Webring system called the Annex Cafe Webring Network.
It is hosted by Gregory Gooden, owner of Annex.
The old ring was hosted outside of Annex, so you might say we are bringing our Webring Home.

Hopefully you've signed up for membership in the New Ring, or are planning to.<g>
As a member of the old WebRing, you have several choices.

They are:

 1) - Remain in the old while joining the new.

If you decide to do this, you'll have two navbars on your website, one for the old and one for the new.
You need both to be there so you don't break either of the Rings.
When it's getting close to the time for the old Ring to be shut down, you'll be notified and you can remove the old ring code from your website.

 2) - Join the new Ring, quit the old Ring.
If you decide to do this, you really have 2 options:

A) - Notify the Ring Administration and request that your site(s) be removed from the Ring.

After it's removed, you can remove the old Navbar code from your website(s).

B) - You can remove your site(s) and delete your account at the old webring yourself.
After you have removed your site(s)s, you can remove the old Navbar code from your website(s).

*Note*
Only you can delete your account. Your account at WebRing.com allows you to join other webrings they host, even create your own webring. Annexcafe can not delete your account, we can only remove your site(s) from our WebRing that is hosted by them. If you belong to other webrings hosted by them, you will not want to delete your account.

This guide will cover B), removing your site and deleting your account from the old webring yourself.

First, access the old Webring Hub page at: http://b.webring.com/t/Annexcafe

Sign in if you're not already:(upper right corner of Hub page)

You'll get this Sign In page:

If you've forgotten your password and know your Webring ID,  use the link "Need Help Signing In?" below the Sign In form.
You'll have an option to have your password sent to the email address that is registered for your account there.
If you don't remember your Webring ID, use the link for "Can't remember your User ID?".
You can search using the name of your website to find your WebRing ID.Once found, you can use the other link to get your password emailed to you.

After you are signed in, look for this section on the page:

If it's not there, go to the upper right corner of the page and click on My Account:

Now, back to that other section.

Here's where there's two possible options.

1)  If you have no Sites listed under Your Ring Memberships, you will have an option in the left hand column for "Delete This User ID".
Click it and your account will be removed from the Ring. You'll be done.
Remember, only you can delete your WebRing.com account.
Once you are finished, you can delete the old Ring code from your site(s).

2)  If you Do have sites listed under Your Ring Memberships, they have to be removed before you can get the "Delete This User ID".
To remove any sites listed, click on the Site Title to Edit it.
On the next page, in the left hand column under Member Tools you'll see an option Delete Site from Ring:

Click it to open the Delete site Confimation page:

Click the button to Delete your site from the Ring.

Repeat the process if neccessary until all sites are removed.
Now you'll get the option in the left hand column for "Delete this User ID".
Use it to remove your account from the Webring.

*Remember, only you can remove your WebRing.com account. Don't delete your account if you wish to join other WebRings hosted by WebRing.com or you already belong to other webrings hosted by WebRing.com.*

Hopefully, this will help anyone who wants to remove their site(s) or account from the old WebRing.
Reminder, this is for the old Webring hosted at:  http://b.webring.com/t/Annexcafe
It is not for the new Webring hosted at Annexcafe.com
.
And Please don't just remove your old navbar code for the old WebRing without notifying the Ring Administration or removing your account yourself.
You'll break the Ring and we'd like to keep it somewhat functional until the day comes for it to be shut down.

We here at Annexcafe appreciate your show of support by joining the old Webring and hope to see your continued support by joining the new Webring at: http://webrings.annexcafe.com/
Thank you, and if you have any questions or need help, please ask.
